KeepYourCafe – pay now to support your local cafes and restaurants
In response to the crippling effects of COVID-19 on the hospitality industry, a collective of coffee-lovers has launched a platform to make it easy for people to support their local cafés and restaurants during the challenging months ahead.
KeepYourCafe lets people buy a gift voucher from their local café or restaurant to use now for take away or when they reopen. The site is powered by GroupTogether, the group gifting platform, to help local cafés and restaurants accept payments online, send a receipt with a unique link to use as a voucher and then send the money to the café or restaurant.
Ali Linz and Julie Tylman, the founders of GroupTogether, said: “Seeing all the empty tables at our favourite café really haunted us. Your local café is more than just your coffee pit stop – it’s where we feel part of a community. We don’t charge a cent for this. We just want to help.
“Cafés and restaurants need our help, and this is a really easy way that everyone can support them. Once a venue registers on KeepYourCafe, customers can simply click to buy a gift voucher, then share a message of support for the venue. People love seeing all the support from everyone else. It makes it feel communal.”

Love your local? Pay now to enjoy later. We promise it feels good and tastes even better!
- Visit keepyourcafe.com and search for your local café or restaurant. If you can’t find it, simply nominate them to take part and we’ll let you know once they register
- Chip in an amount that you’re comfortable with – a coffee, breakfast or brunch – and leave them a pic and message of support. You’ll receive a receipt which acts as a gift voucher
- Share the collection link with your friends, family and local community groups to spread the word
- When collection closes, the venue will receive the funds. The venue will then issue you with a gift voucher for the amount you contributed, which you can enjoy once you’re back in your usual routine
