Entries for 2023 Product of the Year open

Product of the Year has officially commenced its search for the 2023 winners. Now in its 14th year in Australia, brands are invited to enter their products for the chance to take home one of the highly coveted award categories.

To enter the awards, products must be launched between October 2020 and May 2022 and demonstrate innovation through their packaging, function or design. Product of the Year encourages small businesses and brand-new products to enter, as well as any known brands that have redesigned or adapted their products.

“The Product of the Year awards assist consumers in choosing the right items for their needs in an overly saturated market and help make purchasing decisions that guarantee value for money,” Product of the Year said in a statement.

“Previous winners of the esteemed awards have ranged across categories such as beauty, health, food, and home care, with household brand names such as Woolworths, Koala, Coles, Dilmah and Nescafe taking home winning titles, as well as many smaller businesses and startups.

“The highly recognisable Product of the Year logo has proven to be a powerful marketing message with winners, typically seeing their sales increase by an average of 10%-15%.

“Winning products will be announced in November 2022 and will receive the right to use the POY seal in marketing communications for one year to boost sales; as well as have access to an annual PR and social program to support their win.”

Product of the Year Australia Managing Director Sarah Connelly says, “Each year, the awards grow exponentially from the year prior, as more brands create products to match evolving consumer demands. Each year I am delighted to see the brilliant standard of entries, and I know that 2023 will be no exception. It’s always exciting to see the new brands that enter the mix among well known products and take home a winning title that will elevate their brand for years to come.”

For the 2023 awards program, Product of the Year is excited to offer new businesses the chance to enter the ‘Ones to Watch’ category, which recognises innovative products from smaller companies or start-ups who may not have the budget or distribution to enter into the full awards program.

In addition, understanding that many businesses are still recovering from the challenges of Covid-19 and are looking to cut costs where possible, Product of the Year has opted to making entrance to the 2023 Product of the Year Awards as accessible as possible by reducing prices for entry. The new program fees will be reduced to:

  • $3500 Nielsen Research fee which offers a unique survey of over 5000 shoppers and their thoughts on your products.
  • $15,000 Winner’s Fee.
Brands entering the ‘Ones to Watch’ category will only have to pay the research fee and not the winner’s fee.

“The reduced fees are part of Product of the Year’s efforts to champion innovative brands in Australia whilst acknowledging the financial struggles that many have been facing following the global Covid-19 pandemic.

“In Australia, the Product of the Year seal is backed by the votes of 5000+ consumers and aims to provide a time and money-saving shortcut for shoppers, guiding them towards the very best products on shelves.”
