Coca-Cola Amatil’s soft drink bottle recognised

Coca-Cola Amatil’s recycled plastic carbonated soft drink bottle is celebrating two wins in the 2020 Australasian Packaging Innovation & Design (PIDA) Awards.

The wholly recycled bottle is winner of the Sustainable Packaging Design of the Year category – Retail Pack – which recognises innovations in packaging that incorporate sustainability; and joint first place winner in Packaging Innovation & Design of the Year – Beverage Category.

While many other bottlers both in Australia and around the world have converted water bottles to 100 per cent recycled plastic by 2019, Coca-Cola Amatil was the first to achieve this on carbonated soft drink (CSD) bottles, sensitive warm filled bottles and aseptic dairy bottles. This was a major step forward for sustainability and showcased the ongoing local Amatil innovations by our Futureworks and Packaging Service Division teams.

Today seven out of every 10 bottles Amatil makes in Australia are wholly recycled plastic. This includes all Coca-Cola soft drink, water, juice, dairy and sports brands (750mL and below) in brands such as Coca-Cola, Sprite, Fanta, Mount Franklin, Pump, Barista Bros, Keri Juice and Powerade.
