Allpress introduces specialty capsules

Australian coffee roastery, Allpress, has taken its iconic and signature Allpress Espresso Blend and created its first capsule espresso offering coffee lovers a flavourful and premium brew in the comfort of their own home.

The Allpress Espresso Speciality Coffee Capsule has been years in the making, the company says, and is a new innovation that will add to the local brand’s existing premium and specialty coffee offering from today.

“The new capsule was carefully created using Allpress’ signature Espresso Blend, the same specialty grade coffee used by cafe partners around the world. It’s designed to deliver a more accessible solution for those seeking to enjoy coffee at home without sacrificing the unmistakable and premium Allpress flavour.”

“Research commissioned by Allpress1 found that 65% of cafe drinkers also drink coffee at home, with one in three at home coffee drinkers now using a capsule or pod machine, which Allpress wasn’t able to cater for – until now. This data, coupled with feedback from loyal Allpress customers, was at the heart of the brand’s decision to innovate by creating a capsule that retained the integrity and flavour of its cafe coffee.” (1 Research and survey commissioned by Allpress and conducted by Kantar in May 2019 into Australians’ coffee consumption behaviour).

To craft the capsule espresso, Allpress reformulated its Allpress Espresso Blend to highlight the rich caramel sweetness and increase depth and ground it ‘super-finely’ for a slower extraction. The grounds were then roasted at a high temperature to maximise the solubility of the coffee, recreating the iconic flavour of Allpress’ cafe coffee.

“We didn’t feel like most pods met our expectations when it came to flavour so we took the time to challenge the status quo and worked on creating a product that we felt stood up to the expectations of Allpress coffee consumers,” says Allpress Head Roaster, Zach.

“This meant going back to the basics and thinking about how the Allpress Espresso Blend could be adjusted to work best as a pod. We had to think about the roast profile, the mix of origins in the capsule and finally, finding the correct grind size that allowed the right amount of water contact and gave us the most balance to our cup.

“After rounds of trying, testing and perfecting, we reached a point where we were able to achieve the iconic Allpress Espresso Blend flavour, adjusted uniquely as a capsule.”

The Allpress Espresso Speciality Coffee Capsule ($12 AUD RRP/10 Pack and $70 AUD RRP/60 Pack) and is compatible with most capsule coffee machines. The capsules are available at allpressespresso.com, Allpress Roastery Cafes, cafe partners and other specialty grocery stores nationwide.
