Weekly diesel prices

The average price of diesel fuel in Australia rose 1.3¢ to 143.4¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 11 July, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Diesel Prices’ report.

The average national weekly metropolitan retail price rose by 1.2¢ to 142.4¢ a litre, with the regional price rising by 1.3¢ to 144.2¢ a litre.

The most expensive fuel in the country was in the Northern Territory at 159.1¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (148.9¢), NSW/ACT (143.6¢), Queensland (143.5¢), South Australia (142.9¢), Western Australia (142.1¢), and Victoria (142.0¢).

Of the major cities, Perth offered the cheapest diesel for the week at 139.3¢ a litre, followed by Adelaide (139.7¢), Melbourne (141.5¢), Sydney (142.0¢), Brisbane (144.5¢), Darwin (146.1¢), Canberra (146.6¢) and Hobart (147.7¢).
