Weekly petrol prices

The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia rose 7.2¢ to 129.7¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 6 September, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Petrol Prices’ report.

The average national weekly metropolitan retail price rose 9.4¢ 134.4¢ a litre, with the regional price rose by 2.8¢ to 120.3¢ a litre.

The most expensive unleaded in the country was in Victoria at 135.7¢ a litre, followed by Queensland (133.4¢), Northern Territory (130.1¢), NSW/ACT (127.5¢), South Australia (127.3¢), Tasmania (124.1¢), and Western Australia (118.6¢).

Of the major cities, Darwin offered the cheapest unleaded for the week at 117.7¢ a litre, followed by Perth (117.9¢), Canberra (122.3¢), Hobart (124.2¢), Adelaide (130.2¢), Sydney (130.2¢), Brisbane (140.6¢), and Melbourne (141.4¢).
