Weekly diesel prices

The average price of diesel fuel in Australia dropped 0.6¢ to 119.0¢ a litre nationally in the week ending May 24, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Diesel Prices’ report.

The average national weekly metropolitan retail price dropped 0.9¢ to 117.3¢ a litre, while the regional price dropped 0.3¢ to 120.4¢ a litre.

The most expensive fuel in the country was in the Northern Territory at 138.1¢, then Tasmania at 133.8¢ a litre, followed by Western Australia (119.8¢), Victoria (118.4¢), NSW/ACT (118.2¢), Queensland (117.6¢) and South Australia (116.1¢).

Of the major cities, Adelaide offered the cheapest diesel for the week at 107.8¢ a litre, followed by Sydney (114.7¢), Brisbane (116.9¢), Perth (117.5¢), Melbourne (117.8¢), Darwin (120.0¢), Canberra (120.8¢) and Hobart (135.0¢).
