The Aussie Pie Council is inviting bakers, pastry cooks, apprentices, and baking businesses to enter their pies and sausage rolls in the baking industry’s longest running and official pie competition before August 21.
The Official Great Aussie Pie competition will take place at the Southern Hemisphere’s food industry trade expo Fine Food Australia at Melbourne’s ICC from 5-8 September. The council is expecting a record number of entries in all pie and sausage roll categories of the competition. To register, visit aussiepie.com.au/registration.
This year will see the usual titles claimed by Australia’s greatest pies and sausage rolls that meet and go beyond the high standards held by a panel of professional judges. A new Pork Pie sub-category has been added to the Gourmet Pie major title, which is sponsored by Pork Australia. Apprentices entering the Apprentice Category this year will also be required to submit a pork pie.
This year’s competition sponsors include EOI, Fine Food Australia, Heinz, Unox, Dunbrae Bakery Solutions, Lipton, and Earthens.
