New data has revealed the top 10 cheapest petrol stations in Darwin for unleaded petrol and diesel on average since the US conflict with Iran began.
Using the Northern Territory government’s real-time AI model to monitor fuel prices and track fuel company behaviour, Treasury has compiled a list of the cheapest petrol stations on average since 28 February 2026.
“We know that petrol prices are one of the top cost-of-living headaches for Territorians so this list provides them with a guide to where they can find the best savings on average around town,” says Acting Chief Minister Gerard Maley.
“We’re the first jurisdiction in Australia to use AI against fuel price gouging, and it’s already giving us market insights far beyond anything we had before.”

The top 10 lowest petrol prices on average (cents per litre) since 28 February 2026 were found at:

Penalties
Meanwhile, 11 infringement notices have been issued against outlets which charged higher prices at the pump than what was advertised on the MyFuel NT app.
Nearly $170,000 in fines have been issued to outlets in Palmerston, Alice Springs, Katherine and Darwin following more than 2000 compliance checks.
The state government has also announced that the term of the NT Fuel Controller, Jimmy Kiplocks, which was due to conclude on 30 September has been extended for another six months. The Fuel Controller’s role is to prevent price exploitation of goods and services, including fuel.
“Our government will continue to work hard to keep fuel prices down for Territorians because we know how hard they hit the household budget,” says Mr Maley.
